Hello, everybody, welcome to charge your nation. My name is Greg Overend and I'm the Executive Director for the Center for Student Engagement, leadership and orientation, otherwise known as CSELO.
Hello everyone. My name is Grace-Oriana Andree, I'm a student studying Business Management at the University of New Haven.
And we are here to talk to you about engagement and involvement opportunities at the University of New Haven. The first opportunity for you to get engaged and involved is through our orientation program known as Soar. It's a two day overnight program for you to interact with faculty, staff, upper class students, and other members of your incoming class and learn more about what it means to be a Charger.
On our campus. We have about 150 recognized organizations ranging from cultural, social, and academic. If we don't have it is very easy for you to start one of our prominent voices on campus at the undergraduate student government, where they advocate for the voices of undergraduate students to see what they want on campus.
Another opportunity to be engaged involved is through different events, programs and traditions here at the University of New Haven. Some of those traditions, programs, and events are: family day, Homecoming, late night breakfast, Midnight Madness, spring weekend, just to name a few. There are many, many more. We also have 16 Greek organizations on campus, which are great opportunity for you to get involved with the community. They focus on social, multicultural, and community service. Speaking of community service, we also offer a civic engagement program, where we believe it's important for us to outreach to the local community, and we provide engagement and involvement opportunities for you as students to be involved in the West Haven/New Haven community. For our commuter students. We offer a lot of programs as well. We have students that work for us that are called commuter assistance. Their job is to help you as a commuter student, in your first year, become acclimated to the university programs and services. Another great opportunity is to learn more about your leadership style. We here at the University of New Haven have a program called our take charge Leadership Program. Specifically for our first years we have a program called The First Year Leadership Experience, which is an opportunity for you to meet other students learn more about your leadership style and get involved before you even come to campus. As you can see, we offer a lot of opportunities for you to be engaged and involved. College is what you make of it. So please take advantage of those opportunities at the University of New Haven.
And we look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
